Whether you are a friend trying to keep track of my busy life, or a person randomly connected to me via the web, I hope this blog makes you smile, wrinkle your brow, and maybe come away with a new idea or perspective on the world

i hope all things happen for a reason

This week is officially the middle of the semester. Even though in my head, it didn’t feel like that much time has past, but my body is definitely dragging. I didn’t do too well on my biochem test today.. It was really awkward because the professor that I take biochem with is the same professor that I do research with. So as i was doing research and walking in and out his office, he was grading our exam, and this one time i was in his office, he was grading my exam.. I tried not to stare at it but i think he noticed a little.. and it sucks that i didn’t do too well. I wonder what he thinks of me now.. I feel like i should be getting like a 105 every time.. since I’m his research student and we go over this stuff a lot. I’m starting to feel that heavy weight on my shoulders.. gotta keep up or else everything goes down hill from here.. sigh. At least I’m not going to Mexico this thanksgiving.. so i can start prepping for my finals. Speaking of Mexico, I found out today that two of my friends Jimmy and Loren are suspended from school for the entire semester! Apparently the last party they had at the commune (that’s the name they call their house), these other 5 guys were having another party during that same weekend, and i guess before their party started, one of those 5 guys sent out a mass text message regarding their party, and some people that didn’t want to get the text, or didn’t care for it… forwarded it on to our communiversity director.. who works accordingly with the dean of of school, and he oversees a lot of the things that go on during school, in terms of student life. When he heard this, those 5 guys were immediately suspended, and since jimmy and Loren’s party were the same weekend, so they had to suspend them as well. The main thing they charged them was serving alcohol to minors. Even though on the invitation to the commune party, it said that they will be serving alcohol to those who are 21+. But I guess they found out minors were drinking too.. and suspended the people who held the party, since it was suppose to be their responsiblity. But the thing is, Jimmy had just gotten accepted to two medical schools, and Loren was still waiting to hear from his schools, they were both planning on graduating in may. Now they cant even graduate in may anymore.. and jimmy might not get to go to med school anymore. Apparently one of my other friend said that her friend who had gotten accepted to med school last year, and during the summer before he was suppose to enter med school, he got a D.U.I, and when his med school found out, they withdrew his acceptance letter. I don’t know what in the world i would do if i ever got into that situation. I was talking to my friend Elisa today, and she said that her roommate works with communiversity and she said that the new guy is really gung-ho about “cleaning up APU” and kicking out everyone who breaks any sort of rules.. Before the only rules APU had about alcohol was that we couldn’t drink alcohol or be drunk on campus and we cant serve alcohol to minors. But this year they changed it to, we cant have parties with alcohol period.

All of this just shocks me.. how can they do that.. I mean those other 5 guys that got suspended weren’t really going anywhere with their life, but jimmy and Loren are. I was talking to Loren earlier.. and he seemed fine, he just said that his med school plans are put on hold for a while, but there is nothing he can do, so he’s okay.

I’m actually doing research now.. im running my protein through the FPLC. I cannot screw up this time.. for some reason the results i got last time were all over the place.. and Dr. Berezuk told me to do it again.. We have 9 protein fragments to do.. and I’m not even through with the first one of them.. He probably thinks i’m an idiot, that doesn’t take this very seriously. SIGH.

basically my biochem midterm just bummed me out.. and the fact that Loren and jimmy are suspended.

Loren was going to lead a missions team to Bangladesh this summer for a month, and he also leads a PLTL group like I do.. i volunteered today to take over his group if they cant find anyone, he also grades all of the general chemistry lab reports.. i volunteered to help with that load of work today too. Jimmy is the guy that takes care of all the medical team missions to Mexico.. he was actually one of the people that interviewed me.. I hope the school realizes that by suspending these two guys they are affecting so many other people.. sigh..

yay my fplc run came out ok! yay.. only good thing that happened today.
